CEEGS (Central and Eastern European Game Studies Conference) is a gathering of game scholars organized annually by academics from the region of Central and Eastern Europe, but its thematic scope is not limited to regional topics, and it welcomes participants from anywhere in the world.
It was started in 2014 by MU Game Studies, a student-run non-profit organization based at Masaryk University, Brno, Czech Republic. At the final roundtable of the first conference, the representatives of Jagiellonian University in Cracow offered they would host the event next year, turning CEEGS into an annual conference. From 2015 to 2022, the conference series was independently managed by the international Steering Committee of CEEGS. In 2019, the Steering Committee applied to incorporate the regional chapter of Digital Games Research Association (DiGRA) – DiGRA Central and Eastern Europe. In 2022, the management of the conference series was handed over to the newly elected Executive Board of DiGRA CEE.
